1 Alcoholics Anonymous
Works Publishing Co. 1951 9110782141 / 9789110782143 Hardcover Used - Very Good
Fourteenth printing stated on the copyright page and on the spine of the dustjacket. Very Good book in a Fair to Good jacket. The corners and spine ends of the binding are bumped but not rubbed, the text block is bright and fresh, no inscriptions or underlining, the gilt on the spine is complete. The jacket is original, but has a few problems. The front panel has rubbing and a few creases at the bottom, a 1/2' chip at the upper corner, and a few creases across the top. The rear panel has one short closed tear at the bottom, light shallow creasing at the top, and a chip about an inch long and a 1/2' deep at the upper right continuing onto the top of the spine. The spine has shallow chipping at the bottom, rubbing along the rear gutter, and a 1/2' chip at the top in addition to the one beginning on the rear panel. Perhaps too much of a description, but the jacket is critical to the value. It probably sounds worse than reality, so please ask for photos.

3 Albert Einstein Albert Einstein Typed Letter Signed
Emergency Committee of Atomic Scientists August 1947 9110784500 / 9789110784505 Paper Back Used - Very Good
On the letterhead of the Emergency Committee of Atomic Scientists, dated August 6, 1947. Seven paragraphs continuing on a second leaf, signed A. Einstein in blue ink. Addressed to a Dr. Davis, the letter is an impassioned plea for financial assistance for the Committee and its efforts at containing Russia, reining in nuclear weapons and avoiding another war. It also takes note that the date of the letter is the second anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima. Two folds, very slight age-darkening, evidence of having been paper-clipped at the upper left. A stunning example.
